No - It would defeat the Skill > Time vision of the game designers. Make it so you have to do a series of solo quests. Then you get to the armour crafter. Make each area different for each profession. No grinding like in norn tourney though. Once you complete the series you can visit forge man any time.

Isn't R6 KoaBD enough to satisfy the 'leetness'?

Personally i think the faction requirement was a good idea. All the armor crafter towns in gwen could be gotten to without doing one quest, this includes central tranfer chamber (method mentioned in Riverside). This is unlike factions/nightfall when you actually had to do the primary quests to get the armor. The faction requirement actually modivated people to actually play the primary quests, do the side quests, and modivated poeple to actually kill things in zones instead of just making a dash to the portal. Only group that doin all the quest+dungeons for wouldnt' at least get you to rank 5 is the vanguard, but they recently added content for them.
And remember armor is a vanity item, FoW,vabbian and 15K has the exact same stats as 1.5k. Adding new armor that requires alot of time to grind does not violate skill>time, because the stats are the same as 1.5k. I don't hear anyone saying remove the /rank emote because it a perfect example of skill<time, or the ATS reward points.
Btw isn't rank 15 hero enough, but i bet there will be a new emote for it anyways? Isn't high rank champion and commmander enough so they should remove TWP?

That vision was thrown out the window over a year ago.
As for faction requirements for EotN armors, they're minimal and ensures people are PLAYING the content to at least a small degree in order to obtain it. Unlike Grotto/Citadel, Anet learned how to add road blocks to prevent people from running certain things.
Adding an additional armor set for r6 KoaBD isn't likely the best idea (everyone will eventually get it like FoW, which isn't a bad thing), but there's no good reason to prevent it. People can choose to either go for the armor or not, so it shouldn't really matter to anyone whether its an option. People just seem to have the dellusion that GW pvp isn't build wars and pve isn't grind wars. >.>

I'm all for this idea. However, i don't think you should have to have R6, as thats just a little too far. Instead, it should be R2 (like with the phoenix) or R3. Also, i like horseman's idea of making other things for other classes other then the phoenix, as the only class that could really shout for joy for a phoenix is the ranger.

I like this Idea. I don't see why not. for everyone who complains about it, they should start a thread that calls for the removal stupid /rank emote, or make it only work in PvP areas. What way do PvEers have to show their rank that doesn't require someone to actually click on them in an outpost. You say we have the rainbow pheonix, great...when was teh last time you saw it in a town. All we are asking for is something readily visible for the.... dare I say it ..... Time and Effort we put in the game.
I understand the Idea of skill>time. That said time should be rewarded. Effort should be rewarded, otherwise long time players will quite and GW will become boring. You may not like the grind, but some do. And dispite what people say time in game playing increases skill. therefore indirectly you are rewarding skill. get over yourselves.

All armors are the same. The appearance is just different. You want to spend 230,000,000 ectos + 100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000K on armor? Go ahead. I'm not gonna stop you.
I'll stick with 1.5K armor. It's just as good as yours.

Made my day; title wars.
/notsigned. Its to much of a grind. And why free?? If you have all the titles you had more then enough time to farm some gold.
Besides that. You really think they are going to make a new orginal armor for this title based thing?

made me laugh
I read this thread and I still can't find a valid point not to add something like that. Yes the req is high, yes it might or might not show how good you are, yes not everyone will be able to reach it (me incl.)... so what.
I can't see to big a differance between this and fi green items, dungeon drops, 15k and FoW armor. You want it, you go for it, otherwise you just play and have fun .. right?
this doesn't meen the dev's "should" make a new armor, but if they did, why object ??
Oh and holymasamune ... why start calling people idiots just because they disagree?

If they're idiots, what's wrong with calling them idiots?
He didn't call them idiots because they disagree, he called them idiots because he thinks they are. Don't assume you know why he's calling them idiots or you might make an ass out of you and... him

I will not disagree with the idea of PvE guys having something "shiny" to show off for accomplishing that many titles, I do have to disagree with it being armor.
I really don't need another bad re-skin of any armor. I say give us an emote so we can spam it in the PvP areas and look just as stupid as those guys spamming it in our towns!
Seriously, it would be cool to have some kind of exclusive high-end treat for putting in all the work it would take to get it. Just don't let it be a re-skin of something that is already out there. Make it something new and just as good looking as the /rank emotes.
|
Anet, don't ever, ever, ever make a PvE emote.
EVER.
That would be the BIGGEST low-blow to PvPers. Don't ever do it.
PvErs already have shiny armour, weapons and titles to show how "good" they are at PvE.

Emotes are bound to PvP. End of story. There is no way you should be rewarded an emote just because you beat some missions, did the same lb/ss runs for hours on end and sat in town double clicking cupcakes and ale for weeks. Wow, even r3 hero shouldn't be compared to PKM or anything rather.
